HelpDutiesDevelop, conduct, and oversee professional learning for PreK-12 special education teachers on grade-level expectations, national standards, and best practices for students with disabilities.
Subject Matter Expert (SME) for leading systematic review of special education programming for students with disabilities.
Responsible for providing guidance to school districts regarding special education federal regulations and policies for children with disabilities.
Identify incidents of non-compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), tracking findings, monitoring training and technical assistance and verifying correction of findings.
Develop short and long-term plans for programmatic improvement, conducts systematic reviews of curriculum, performance, program standards, and methodology for special education.
Monitor the quality of special education program services to ensure compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
Develop system-wide policies, guidelines, and operational procedures for special education program direction and evaluation.
Reviews multiple sources of longitudinal data to identify trends and make recommendations for areas of improvement.
Implements the requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) for the provision of services for students with disabilities.

One year of specialized experience which includes:
revising educational policies of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) as it relates to the special education specially designed instruction, support, and services provided to students with an identified disability and an Individualized Education Program (IEP), developing policies, guidelines, and operating procedures for special education programs, identifying professional learning needs of staff, and identifying incidents of noncompliance with IDEA and recommending a corrective action.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
