General Description:
Under the direction of the Deputy Director of Operations, the Operations Clerk serves in a hybrid capacity by providing clerical and operational support to the DASH Operations Control Center (DOCC) and in a practical setting within the garage grounds.
This role supports the bus operator check-in function at dispatch and aids in successful pull-outs and pull-ins within the garage through the delivery of instructions, guidance, and support of bus operators.
The Operations Clerks serves as a liaison between the operations and maintenance departments to facilitate communication and provide immediate support with fleet concerns affecting daily operations.
This position will also provide support on special projects such as the fleet inspection program and implementation and coordination of electric buses and charging stations.
Responsibilities/
Essential Functions:
Garage Duties (50%):
1.
Coordinates parking assignments for all transit vehicles in the ATC garage through field observations and the utilization of electronic garage parking location software.
2.
Provides parking information and bus locations to bus operators and DOCC as required.
3.
Responds to immediate concerns regarding bus operator equipment and vehicle issues to ensure successful pull-out or pull-in.
4.
Coordinates the charging of ATC electric bus fleet including physically plugging in buses to charging stations, monitoring charge levels, and moving fleet within the garage grounds to maximize charging opportunities.
5.
Communicates on a regular basis with the operations department to provide daily maintenance updates, bus availability, and/or pertinent information regarding bus assignments, including:
a.
Assisting with assigning revenue and non-revenue fleet vehicles to operators.
b.
Assisting with special vehicle rotation, as required.
c.
Assisting with determining run and operational requirements for vehicles assignments.
6.
Provides feedback to the Deputy Director or their designee to help improvise on existing processes within the garage confines to ensure safety, reliability, and efficiency.
7.
Maintains effective working relationships with all departments while fostering a positive work environment and a strong customer centric approach.
8.
Responsible for daily bus assignments and parking organization and prioritization in the garage.
9.
Effectively utilizes electronic vehicle maintenance/inspection system to communicate fleet issues to the maintenance department.
10.
Performs quarterly fleet inspection using electronic maintenance/inspection system to identify missing or malfunctioning operational or safety components.
11.
Aids bus operators in the completion of pre- and post-inspections.
12.
Liaise between DOCC and maintenance regarding bus availability and requirements.
13.
Supports in the relocation of buses within the garage to help with fixed-route assignments or maintenance requests/repairs.
14.
Completes and submits daily required reports to the Deputy Director at shift conclusion.
15.
Visually inspects garage grounds and reports any defects or issues to the maintenance department.
16.
Serves as primary support in emergency situations, within the garage, by sharing important information and following instructions as required.
Administrative Duties (50%):
17.
Responsible in supporting and administering the bus operator check-in process prior to operators scheduled shift.
18.
Reports issues that arise during check-in with bus operators to the Operations Supervisor on duty in DOCC.
19.
Verifies credentials and uniform code compliance of bus operators.
20.
Executes general operation intake information form workflow processes.
21.
Responsible for answering internal dispatch phone lines and provides callers with general information or refers them to the appropriate staff member.
22.
Utilizes radio system to communicate with operators who request radio and time checks and as needed to disseminate information from DOCC.
23.
Assists with various methods of disseminating information to bus operators as required by operations management.
24.
Works proactively with Operations Supervisors in DOCC to avoid/minimize service issues.
25.
Provides clerical support to operations department including but not limited to bus assignments, pay sheet documentation, filing paperwork, printing, stocking mailboxes, and maintaining bulletin boards.
26.
Logs daily timekeeping of operator shifts through the utilization of timekeeping module or appropriate system.
27.
Coordinates with other garage Clerks regarding bus assignments using CAD/AVL software and as requested by DOCC, monitors service performance and locates operators/buses for check-in process.
28.
Actively maintains communication with other Clerk staff through two-way radio, Microsoft Teams, or push-to-talk devices to coordinate bus assignments.
29.
Cooperatively and efficiently performs additional related tasks and duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of transit vehicle operations.
Knowledge of state and local traffic regulations.
Basic knowledge of transit services, routes, and time schedules.
Thorough working knowledge of computers, hardware, and software programs (specifically those related to transit operations and those including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.
) Basic knowledge of smart devices and ability to operate on-bus technology systems including radio system, signage, etc.
Excellent customer service and customer relations skills.
Ability to interpret and comply with company policies, procedures, and Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Ability to communicate basic instructions and provide guidance to others.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to organize and prioritize tasks.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
