Scientist/ Sensors Analyst to join our group supporting the initiatives of the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Cost Assessment & Program Evaluation (CAPE).
CAPE support requires a wide range of analytic capabilities ranging from quantum mechanics and chemical processes to mathematics and statistics; from the development and use of specific war fighting models to evaluation of military operations across a spectrum of conflicts.
This team provides analytic studies and operations research support using quantitative modeling, simulation, and technical analysis to CAPE.
The successful applicant will assist CAPE in their mission to provide quality, data driven analysis and alternatives to senior decision makers within the DoD.
The role will focus primarily on analyzing sensor performance and capability using first principles physics or engineering, and may also include ballistic or aerodynamic system performance analysis.

Provide analytic support grounded in sound scientific and engineering principles to OSD CAPE.
Provide critical analyses on topics such as Radar Systems, EO/IR Sensors, Electronic Jamming, Missile Defense, Space Systems, or Aerodynamic modelling.
Develop computer simulations or models in the above areas.
Develop scripted briefings for the client as needed.
Analyze and interpret data from multiple sources.
The ability to work in a multi-contractor environment within the customer's secure facility in Alexandria, VA.
Required Experience, Skills, and Education:
Requires a Master's Degree in Physical Sciences, Mathematics, Engineering or closely related discipline and 10
years of experience OR a Ph.
D.
in one of the above fields and 5
years of experience.

Years of experience in at least one of the following areas:
Ballistic Missile Defense Analysis, Space Systems Analysis, Air and Cruise Missile Defense Analysis, Science and Technology Analysis, Sensor Analysis, Aerodynamic Simulation Development Preferred Experience, Skills, and Education:
A background in Applied Mathematics developing models of physical systems.
Experience analyzing EO/IR or Radar systems Experience developing Aerodynamic Models The ability to interface directly with government operations research analysts and to work both independently and within a team.
The ability to critically analyze and interpret data from multiple sources.
The ability to prepare monthly reports and subject matter briefings as required.
Computer programming skills (Python, Matlab,, R, Visual Basic, FORTRAN, C, etc.
), especially as applied to computer modeling and simulation.
Clearance Required:
Active Interim Top Secret clearance upon hire and the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance and be SCI Eligible.

00 - $162,000.

00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
