Job SummaryWe seek a Civil Engineer to support project teams and the firm's key regional clients in the design and planning of complex and innovative wastewater treatment and conveyance projects, and water treatment and distribution projects in the greater Washington, DC metro area.
The successful candidate will work under the direction of the PMs or Client Managers to support various water and wastewater engineering projects and will also provide field investigation and condition assessment support of existing infrastructure.
As part of subsequent training, professional development, and career progression, we anticipate the successful candidate to progress to a project engineer then to a project manager position.
Responsibilities & QualificationsESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Engineering design and consulting for complex assignments, including hydraulic and hydrologic calculations, utility plans, technical specifications, and cost estimating.
The successful candidate will be tasked with managing the preparation of design and construction documents for wastewater and water treatment facilities, and conveyance and distribution projects.
Participate in assignments as a member of a team, sometimes in a lead role in particular areas of expertise, including peer mentorship of design and consulting staff.
Regular meeting and presentation of project deliverables to clients.
Qualifications Education:
B.
S.
degree in Civil Engineering is required.
MS.
degree preferred.
Experience:
4-7 years of experience in water and wastewater engineering consulting performing studies, design and construction services for municipal clients.
Demonstrated experience developing designs and construction contract documents for complex infrastructure projects.
Certifications, Licenses:
EIT is required, PE license is preferred.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES Experience in the preparation of contract documents, including drawings and specifications, for complex water and sewer projects.
Experience in the study and design of water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, water distribution and sewer collection linear assets.
Preparation of hydraulic design calculations and coordination of hydraulic modeling.
Experience in site design associated with urban infrastructure projects.
Experience working on and coordinating with an interdisciplinary team with other engineers, including structural, geotechnical, electrical, mechanical, architecture, etc.
Strong communication and technical writing skills.
