Adjunct Faculty Communication Studies

Basic Function The primary responsibility of an Adjunct faculty member at Northern Virginia Community College is to provide quality instruction for the students.
The major emphasis is on excellent teaching by working with students in classrooms, laboratories, individual conferences, and related activities.
Faculty help students develop their interests and abilities to their fullest capacity to become better workers and better citizens.
Instructors may be needed during the daytime, evening or Saturday hours.
An adjunct faculty appointment contains no guarantee of continued employment.
Duties and Responsibilities Teach Communication Studies courses at the Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA), Alexandria Campus.
Adjunct faculty are required to create syllabi and lesson plans, meet assigned classes on meeting dates, grade students submissions in a timely manner, submit final grades at the conclusion of the semester, submit required grade records and reports to administration as required, and adhere to our college policies.
Minimum Qualifications Master s Degree with 18
hours in Communication Studies graduate coursework.
Preferred Qualifications MA or Ph.
D.
in Communication Studies or related field with relevant coursework Teaching experience Community College teaching experience Experience working with Canvas or another learning management system Experience teaching online and/or remotely Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent interpersonal and native or near-native oral and written English skills Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population Demonstrated ability to work with or adapt to teaching with technology Operation of a State Vehicle No Open Date 05/11/2020 Close Date Open Until Filled Yes Special Instructions to Applicants May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
