SCADA Controls Engineer

SCADA Controls Technologist Alexandria, VA, US Work location Candidates can work a rotating schedule of 1 week on-site and 1 week remote The Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Controls Technologist will be responsible for supporting the SCADA Applications Manager in the functionality of AlexRenewrsquos SCADA system and other applications.
Essential Duties Responsibilities Responsible for maintaining SCADA service functionality and maintaining current program codes for all systems.
Responsible for managing and documenting all PLC and HMI software control logic strategy and programming revisions.
Work with SCADA Applications Manager to maintain proper documentation of any field changes to the control system and communicating and training operations staff on any modificationschanges.
Responsible for assisting operations with historical data retrieval and trend interpretation.
Work with SCADA Applications Manager to develop training modules for operations on control systems (PLC mapping, system architecture, interdependencies, resetting devices, use of HMI etc.
) Develop a good understanding of the process control philosophy for the various unit processes and take the lead on training operations on process control.
Assist on the integration of workflows with finance and asset management applications ensuring SCADA information availability and functionality for asset management and procurement processes.
On call in the event of SCADA issues (communications, operability issues, etc.
) Actively promotes safe behaviors and health awareness at all times in the execution of daily tasks.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Education andor Experience Associatersquos degree or trade school education in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical, Computer Engineering, Controls Engineering or Information Technology or related field Bachelorrsquos degree desired.
Five (5) years of progressive experience in at least one (1) or more of the following industrial application settings WaterWastewater, Automotive, Electric Power, Industrial or Commercial Drive Systems industries preferred.
Experience in utilizing Allen Bradley PLCrsquos desired.
Ability to prepare technical and non-technical documents.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
Ability to understand and comply with applicable federal, state and local regulatory agency reporting and documentation requirements.
Journeyman Electrical License preferred or ability to obtain within five years.
Proficient in use of Microsoft Windows and the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, and Access).
Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively and diligently as an individual and team member to resolve complex problems.
Some familiarity with water and wastewater systems preferred.
